NEW YORK CITY TRAFFIC ADVISORY: FRIDAY MARCH 7, 2014 TO SUNDAY MARCH 9, 2014

 

MANHATTAN- BROOKLYN

 BROOKLYN BRIDGE – INBOUND. MANHATTAN/BROOKLYN CLOSURES MEANS LIKELY CONGESTION AND INTERRUPTION THE NORMAL FLOW OF TRAFFIC IN THE AREA IN MANHATTAN AND BROOKLYN

BROOKLYN BRIDGE full closure for traffic proceeding Manhattan bound/westbound

Friday night/Saturday morning Midnight* to 7 am

Due to facilitation rehabilitation and repainting work

BROOKLYN BRIDGE full closure for traffic proceeding Manhattan bound/westbound

Monday – Thursday nights: 11 pm* to 6 am

Due to facilitation rehabilitation and repainting work

* To allow traffic to clear before the reversal begins, the eastbound BQE exit onto the bridge closes 30 minutes earlier, the northbound FDR Drive exits close up to an hour earlier, and other Brooklyn ramps onto the bridge shut down 5-15 minutes earlier.

Drivers proceeding inbound/northbound from south Brooklyn via the Belt Parkway and Gowanus Expressway should use 3rd Avenue/Hamilton Avenue into the toll facility Hugh L. Carey (formerly Brooklyn Battery) Tunnel as the best route into lower Manhattan.

Drivers proceeding inbound/westbound from Queens/Long Island should consider the Williamsburg Bridge, or the toll facilities at the Robert F Kennedy Bridge or Queens Midtown Tunnel, for best route into Manhattan.

Throughout this closure the Manhattan Bridge will accommodate 5 lanes of traffic inbound/westbound and two lanes outbound/eastbound.

West 16th Street between 7th Avenue and 6th Avenue

To facilitate crane operation.

West 18th Street between 7th Avenue and 8th Avenue

 Saturday and/or Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm

To facilitate crane operation.

West 27th Street between 12th Avenue and 11th Avenue

 Saturday and/or Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm

To facilitate crane operation.

East 28th Street between Madison Avenue and Park Avenue South

 6 am Saturday to 9 pm Sunday

To facilitate crane operation.

FDR Service Road Southbound between East 30th Street and East 34th Street

 from 6 am Saturday to 9 pm Sunday

To facilitate crane operation. There will be no impact on the FDR Drive entrance ramp.

East 46th Street between 2nd Avenue and 1st Avenue

 Saturday and/or Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm

To facilitate crane operation.

West 50th Street between 8th Avenue and Broadway

 Saturday and/or Sunday from 12:01 am to 8 am

To facilitate crane operation.

West 51st Street between 6th Avenue and 5th Avenue

 Saturday and/or Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm

To facilitate crane operation.

East 61st Street between Madison Avenue and 5th Avenue

 Saturday and/or Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm

To facilitate crane operation.

East 81st Street between 1st Avenue and York Avenue

 Saturday and/or Sunday from 8 am to 4 pm

To facilitate crane operation.

West 136th Street between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue

 Saturday and/or Sunday from 8 am to 4 pm

To facilitate crane operation.

Fort Washington Street between West 178th Street and West 179th Street

 from 11 pm Saturday to 5 am Sunday

To facilitate trailer installation.

Washington Street between Rector Street and Carlisle Street

 8 am to 10 pm Saturday and 9 am 10 pm Sunday

To facilitate roadway utility work.

Rector Street between West Street and Washington Street including intersection of Washington Street

 8 am to 10 pm Saturday and 9 am to 10 pm Sunday

To facilitate roadway utility work.

Fulton Street between Broadway and Nassau Street

 Saturday and/or Sunday from 7 am to 7 pm

To facilitate work on the MTA Fulton Transit Center.

Park Place between West Broadway and Greenwich Street

 Saturday and/or Sunday from 7 am to 7 pm

To facilitate crane operation.
