National Ballet of Georgia comes to USA.

Georgia is a country located in The Caucasus Mountains. It is rather a small country of 3,75 million people. It is also a former republic of The Soviet Union. In 1991 Georgia became independent an nation.

Despite its tragic history being subjected for centuries to Persian, Turkish and Russian domination, Georgia has not lost its unique cultural heritage.

“I don’t know any other country in the world where folk dance is so much loved by people as in my country,” said Nino Sukhishvili, artistic director of Georgian State Dance Company.

Based on traditional Georgian folk dance, the stage choreography is colorful combination of classical ballet and modern dance burlesque elements, which Sukhishvili attributes as a main reason of  the sensational success of National Ballet of Georgia.

“A lot of very good energy comes from the dancers to the audience and the audience feels it. You just have to see it to experience it,” said Nino Sukhishvili

For the past 70 years, the dance troupe of more than 50 dancers has toured around the world over 300 times, performing in 100 countries in top venues for more than 60 million people.
