NYC TRAFFIC ADVISORY:  FRIDAY APRIL 26, 2013 TO SUNDAY APRIL 28, 2013

 

FOLLOWING QUEENS MIDTOWN TUNNEL CLOSURES MEANS LIKELY CONGESTION AND INTERRUPTION THE NORMAL FLOW OF TRAFFIC IN THE AREA:

Where When What
One tube  of QUEENS MIDTOWN TUNNEL from 2 a.m. on Saturday through 5 a.m. Monday Two-way traffic is in effect in the remaining tube. Trucks are not allowed while two-way traffic is in effect

 

ALEXANDER HAMILTON BRIDGE

Starting from December 8, 2012, construction work will begin on the Alexander Hamilton Bridge (I-95 Cross Bronx Expressway) and that will impact traffic on the Westbound (New Jersey-bound) lanes of the bridge and surrounding roadways for approximately for the next 6 months. A new traffic pattern is in place on the Cross Bronx Expressway southbound approaching the Major Deegan Expressway. As a result, two lanes to the left of the workzone and one lane to the right of the workzone will be open to traffic. Drivers will have access to both levels of the George Washington Bridge.

 SIXTH AVENUE ENTRANCE RAMP NORTHBOUND/INBOUND GOWANUS EXPRESSWAY

Sixth Avenue entrance ramp northbound/inbound Gowanus Expressway(use 4th Avenue or 3rd Avenue/Hamilton Avenue as detour route) closed 11 am Friday to 5 am Monday Due to facilitation NYSDOT roadway work

 

BROOKLYN BRIDGE – INBOUND. MANHATTAN/BROOKLYN

Where When Why
Full Weekend Closures Of Inbound/Westbound Traffic Starting 12:01 am Saturday April 27th until 6 am Monday April 29th Due to facilitation rehabilitation and repainting work

Drivers proceeding inbound/northbound from south Brooklyn via the Belt Parkway and Gowanus Expressway should use 3rd Avenue/Hamilton Avenue into the toll facility Hugh L. Carey (formerly Brooklyn Battery) Tunnel as the best route into lower Manhattan.

Drivers proceeding inbound/westbound from Queens/Long Island should consider the Williamsburg Bridge, or the toll facilities at the Robert F Kennedy Bridge or Queens Midtown Tunnel, for best route into Manhattan.

Throughout this closure the Manhattan Bridge will accommodate 5 lanes of traffic inbound/westbound and two lanes outbound/eastbound.

 

FDR DRIVE NORTHBOUND EXIT TO EAST HOUSTON STREET

Where When Why
FDR Drive Northbound exit to East Houston Street will be closed Drivers should use East 20-23 Street exit and follow posted detour. 10 am to 10 pm Saturday and Sunday in conjunction with Brooklyn Bridge detours.

 

GRAND STREET BRIDGE OVER NEWTOWN CREEK. BROOKLYN/QUEENS
