NYC Traffic Advisory:  Friday January 11, 2013 to Sunday January 13, 2013

The New York City Department of Transportation announces street closures and expected traffic delays for Manhattan. Drivers should expect delays on December 28, 2012 to Sunday December 30, 2012 .

Alexander Hamilton Bridge (Manhattan – Bronx) – Construction work on the bridge

Starting from December 8, 2012, construction work will begin on the Alexander Hamilton Bridge (I-95 Cross Bronx Expressway) and that will impact traffic on the Westbound (New Jersey-bound) lanes of the bridge and surrounding roadways for approximately for the next 6 months. A new traffic pattern is in place on the Cross Bronx Expressway southbound approaching the Major Deegan Expressway. As a result, two lanes to the left of the workzone and one lane to the right of the workzone will be open to traffic. Drivers will have access to both levels of the George Washington Bridge.

Brooklyn Bridge
Full Weekend Closures Of Inbound/Westbound Traffic

Starting 12:01am Saturday January 12 until 6am Monday January 14 the Brooklyn Bridge will be closed to inbound/westbound traffic.

Drivers going inbound/northbound from south Brooklyn via the Belt Parkway and Gowanus Expressway should use 3rd Avenue/Hamilton Avenue into the toll Brooklyn Battery Tunnel as the fastest way into lower Manhattan. Drivers going inbound/westbound from Queens/Long Island should strongly consider the Williamsburg Bridge, or Robert F Kennedy or Queens Midtown Tunnel (toll tunnel) as quiqest route into Manhattan. Throughout this closure time the Manhattan Bridge will accommodate 5 lanes of traffic inbound/westbound and two lanes outbound/eastbound.

 

Manhattan Bridge

Starting 12:01am Saturday January 12 until 6am Monday January 14 time the Manhattan Bridge will accommodate 5 lanes of traffic inbound/westbound and two lanes outbound/eastbound.

West 50th Street between 9th Avenue and 10th Avenue: Saturday and/or Sunday from 7am to 7pm Due to facilitation crane operation
West 54th Street between 6th Avenue and 5th Avenue Saturday and/or Sunday from 8am to 6pm Due to facilitation crane operation
West 55th Street between 8th Avenue and Broadway Saturday and/or Sunday from 8am to 6pm Due to facilitation crane operation
East 56th Street between 3rd Avenue and 2nd Avenue Saturday and/or Sunday from 8am to 6pm Due to facilitation crane operation
West 56th Street between Madison Avenue and Park Avenue Saturday and/or Sunday from 6am to 8pm Due to facilitation crane operation
East 78th Street between 2nd Avenue and 1st Avenue Sunday from 8am to 4pm Due to facilitation crane operation
West 126th Street between Old Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue Saturday from 8am to 4pm Due to facilitation crane operation
West 168th Street between Fort Washington Avenue and Broadway Saturday and/or Sunday from 8am to 6pm Due to facilitation crane operation
