UN General Assembly 2017 dates: 12-25 September 2017

The 72nd Regular Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 72) convened at UN Headquarters on Tuesday, 12 September 2017.

The 72nd Regular Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 72) is `going to focus on the theme, ‘Focusing on People: Striving for Peace and a Decent Life for All on a Sustainable Planet’.

The General Debate will open on Tuesday, 19 September 2017

Because of dignitaries from allover the world come on the city, various streets on the East Side will be closed to accommodate their travel around the United Nations building and hotels.

There may be street closures in the following area of Manhattan during the UN General Assembly session  September 13-26, 2016 to be determined by the Police Department.

CLOSURES MEANS LIKELY CONGESTION AND INTERRUPTION THE NORMAL FLOW OF TRAFFIC IN THE AREA IN MANHATTAN, BROOKLYN, AND QUEENS

From 12-25 September 2017

the West Channel of the East River will be closed to marine traffic. Vessels will be diverted to the East Channel, between Roosevelt Island and Queens. The Roosevelt Island Bridge will therefore be intermittently closed to all vehicular, pedestrian and bicycle traffic for up to 15 minutes at a time to accommodate marine traffic.
