On December 2 UK House of Commons voted 397-223 to authorize air strikes against militants in Syria.

UK Prime-Minister Cameron said at House of Commons debate:

-We must have no illusion about real goal of ISIL terrorists. They  are plotting to kill us. It is not about whether we want to fight terrorism, it’s about how best we do that. The question is: do we work with our allies to destroy this threat and do we go after these terrorists in their heartlands, from where they are plotting to kill people  of United Kingdom? Or do we sit back and wait for them to attack us?”

Ahead of the vote, Cameron insisted that any military action in Syria was part of a wider strategy that would “keep British people safe.”
