Voters Like Teachers’ Public Ratings and Restaurant Grading, Polls Find

Poll results released today find New York City voters broadly supporting two of the city’s rather controversial public-grading measures: effectiveness ratings for teachers and sanitary ratings for restaurants. In the poll on teacher ratings, School Book reports, 58 percent of voters approved of the release of teacher data reports, even though a plurality of voters found them flawed. On restaurant ratings, which are widely criticized by restaurateurs as misleading, support was overwhelming, Diner’s Journal reports, with 82 percent of voters supporting the issuing of letter grades.
